Small Plastic 1950s Poppered Pocket Pouch (for Hankies?)
To be quite honest, I’m not sure what this was designed to hold-maybe your handkerchiefs, maybe a rain bonnet-I really don’t know, but I do know a lovely mid-century plastic fabric when I see one! This flat pocket purse has a yellow popper fastener and is waterproof and still has a faint whiff of Grandma. It has stitched edging and is double layered. I would say it probably had a spongy layer in between but that that’s now disintegrated. Sometimes there is evidence of powdered sponge! There are a few marks and some stitch damage where someone has repeatedly reached into it but it’s still perfectly usable and very sweet. Could be used in a handbag or for travel. Perfect for sanitary towel storage! Measures 13.5 x 12 cm approx.
