70s Tapestry Sample Woven Wool

£15.00

We know very little about this beautiful handwoven piece, sadly. We'd love to know more about it. We believe it to be wool. It involves three sections stitched together at the top -the brown and beige base with tassels (31 x 16 inches), a blue and red sample (14 x 9.5 inches), and an orangey-brown section which adds a massive 70s feel to the piece (13 x 9 inches). It is expertly woven in a checked pattern with a variety of different yarns, varied in colour, thickness, and coarseness. All of the panels have neatly finished edges and the base piece ends in fat cream tassels that look to be made from blanket wool.

Comes without a hanging pole (if you wanted to use it as a wall hanging). Small stain to the tassel area-probably easily removed. The odd loose thread. We don't know the maker or when it was made but it feels very 70s. We are not sure if it was made as a sample or as a wall hanging but it certainly deserves to be displayed. It weighs approximately 260 grams.
